DAVIS, Eliza Jane

Waynetown, April 12 - Mrs. Eliza Jane Davis, wife of Joshua I. Davis and a resident of Waynetown for the past 12 years died at her home here Wednesday morning at 3 o'clock following a serious illness of two weeks.  Mrs. Davis had been in decking health however for nearly three years. Complications caused her death.  Mrs. Davis was born Sept 22, 1859 in Franklin County, Missouri and was a daughter of Robert and Mary C. Bray Davis. She was united in marriage to Joshua I. Davis Sept 19, 1874. She was a member of the Christian Church.  Mrs. Davis grew to womanhood in Missouri and after her marriage lived for a number of years in Texas and Kansas. She and her family later came to Indiana and resided in Westport, Fairland, Gosport and Cloverdale, before moving to Waynetown 12 years ago.  In addition to her husband, Mrs. Davis is survived by five daughters: Mrs. LE Cole, Indianapolis; Mrs. SW Lawson, Greensburg; Mrs. JM Coppeak, Trent. Mo; Mrs. WW Newbold, St. Clair, Mo; three sons, RT Davis, Martin City, Mo; Fred Davis, Indianapolis; Charles Davis, Waynetown; 41 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emily Elizabeth Duncan, Carthage, Mo and one brother, Charles Davis, DeQueene, Mo. Funeral services will be conducted at the home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock and Rev. JC Overman will be in charge. Interment will take place in the Waynetown masonic cemetery. - kbz
